Since 1999, brothers Maarten and John Rooijakkers and their wives have operated a pig breeding farm in Aarle-Rixtel. In 2001 they opened the first viewing barn with skybox in the Netherlands. Since then, more than 200,000 people have visited the farm. The company produces under the Beter Leven Keurmerk and is producer of the Hoevenaer van Heihoef BV brand.
In 2019 the decision was made to convert the pig breeding farm in Aarle-Rixtel to a new recreational form of pig keeping. This is in line with our passion of other activities that fit the environment, market and society. At a number of locations with visible stables in the Aarle-Rixtel area, the brothers will continue to produce piglets under the Heihoef brand under the Beter Leven Keurmerk.
"Aren't piglets buried?"
an 11-year-old boy once asked us with big eyes. That question inspired us to let children and their parents discover the importance of our food and the versatility of pig life. Thus PorcusCampus, the Netherlands' first experience center about piglets was born.
In our special event hall you will discover and learn all about piglets in a playful way. In an accessible and low-threshold way, you will learn more about where our food comes from.
Meet our different pig breeds in our event hall. Cuddle a pig, be up front at our hilarious Pigwalk or win a prize at our piglet race. Tired from an afternoon of play? You can even sleep in deluxe rooms above the piglets. And do your parents and their colleagues want to have a meeting in a special way? You can, with a beautiful view of our piglets.
