Our vision

We believe it is important that in a changing environment consumers can continue to discover in a contemporary way where their food comes from. After all, alongside water and air, food is a basic element of our existence.

Knowledge of where food comes from is becoming less and less. This is because producers and consumers have become increasingly distant from each other. At educational institutions and families, this knowledge is also less and less available. The knowledge is and remains important when making choices about spatial development, food health and food security. This is where we want to respond!

Our mission

Our mission is: to contribute transparently to the knowledge of where food comes from. We provide a platform for everyone who wants to share or discover knowledge about the production and consumption of food. Here, the pig is central.

Target

Through PorcusCampus, a knowledge center has been built where citizens, students and groups can receive information, courses and training on history, contemporary and future food production. Central to this are piglets of different breeds.

Resources

The pig has always played an important role among populations in the food supply throughout history. It is an animal that is quick to satisfy and can efficiently convert food waste into good meat. PorcusCampus has several breeds of piglets for education that all have different origins. In particular, consumer culture and production environment have contributed to the emergence of different breeds over the centuries. PorcusCampus, in addition to the different breeds, can impart this knowledge in a fun way. This can be done through pig ownership, visits, excursions, courses and training and overnight stays.
